What we do
We make shopping small and local convenient. We bring together the very best food and drink from the local makers and sellers in your neighbourhood onto one convenient website, so you can get everything you need, all in one go, whilst shopping ‘small’ and supporting local. We handpick your items from each local store, pack them up together and deliver everything straight to your door. What's not to love! Who we are
Elena is passionate about great quality food and drink. She has lived in the Fulham area – where this all started – for ten years and continues to discover local makers and sellers of fantastic produce. Over the years, she’s enjoyed homemade pasta from Puglia, bread baked overnight by passionate bakers, top quality meat and the freshest fruit and vegetables, all bought just round the corner from her home. She knows how lucky she is to have these wonderful local shops on her doorstep, and she believes their produce should be made easily accessible to people leading busy lifestyles with little time to visit. Elena has a communications background and she’s keen to put her skills to good use, spreading the word about the local gems in Fulham and beyond!
Poppy is also a foodie and loves exploring her local independents for delicious ingredients to cook up a storm with at home. Having grown up in Parsons Green, the area is close to her heart. She’s all about championing small businesses local to her, encouraging people to discover the produce they make and sell, and ultimately, to keep a community-feel alive. Poppy’s background is in agriculture and environmental management and she is passionate about the future of food and farming. Sustainability throughout food supply chains and food production is important to her, which is largely why working with suppliers we trust and developing great partnerships with each of them is crucial to Neighbourhood Pantry.
Neighbourhood Pantry was born out of lockdown, when so many small, local businesses pulled together to ensure people in the community got what they needed when the supermarket queues were endless and no one could get a delivery slot online. Many people discovered just how good the produce was from these independent stores. It prompted Elena and Poppy to think about what was going to happen after lockdown – we must continue to enjoy and support these places, but it needs to be easy and convenient to do so, particularly as our lives get busier again.
We’re passionate about championing local producers and sellers. We have visited many, tried their exceptional produce and developed trusted relationships built on a shared passion for the very best quality food and drink. We want more people to discover what we have, but we know it’s not always convenient to zig-zag between lots of individual shops to get everything you need. That's why we’re on a mission to make the fantastic produce from your locals easily accessible to everyone living close by, so shopping small and local becomes a no-brainer for neighbourhoods across the country.
We’ve brought together some of the best independent food and drink stores in your neighbourhood, meaning you can shop for great quality essentials and artisan produce, conveniently, on one website, rather than using the default of a big supermarket. Once you’ve placed your order online, the Neighbourhood Pantry team will visit each individual store - from the greengrocer, the butcher and the bakery to the deli and the florist - to handpick your items, before we pack everything up and deliver it all together, straight to your door.
We love the idea of neighbours fuelling their own neighbourhood and thereby helping it to thrive, protecting what is unique about it and living more sustainably. We call our way of shopping ‘responsible convenience'. Shopping with us couldn’t be more convenient, but at the same time, you’ll be making a positive impact on local communities, the environment and ultimately, you. Not to mention enjoying some of the finest food and drink in your neighbourhood! Our illustration here shows the benefits of shopping with your local independents.
